Waffles for Breakfast

Friend-husband makes the waffles at our house.   But today I thought I’d learn his secret recipe, so I volunteered to assist.

It’s not a big secret. It’s the baking mix recipe with a few adjustments.  The milk is poured over a portion of lemon juice to create buttermilk.  The egg is mixed with brown sugar and vanilla and oil before being added to the milk. Then the liquids are mixed into the dry mixture.

Ordinarily, I’m busy with other things while he creates this masterpiece. Acting as his sous chef this morning was a nice change. Made a very pleasant start to the day. We are both so committed, it feels like we seldom do things in tandem any more.

I was glad for the refresher course.
